4 Stars Great kit, but problems with the decals
by Richard Dula from Jackson, Michigan on Jul 25, 2010
I picked up one of these kits knowing that it was a straight reissue of the older 1:2500 scale AMT/Ertl Enterprise-C that used to be included in one of the three-ship sets along with the Enterprise-B and Enterprise-D. The molds are still in good shape, and Round 2 made a good choice in reissuing this kit, given the relative scarcity of the B-C-E sets. Two decal sheets are included with the kit, and they provide full "wallpaper" decals to portray the complex paint scheme of the ship. But on my kit there was a major problem. The ship's name as it appears on the top of the saucer section is printed as "U.S.S. Enterpise". This doesn't really impact me (because I have lots of spare decal sheets from the older sets) but it will definitely create issues for modelers without those resources. But all hope is not lost as there are aftermarket decal sets that are available. I hope that Round 2 will correct this mistake in future releases of the kit. All in all, this kit is worth getting. It is my hope that if the modeling community buys these kits, then Round 2 will be willing to invest in working on bringing brand-new kits to us in the future.
