We've only had to wait 35 years, but I guess better late than never! Hasegawa has done a fine job with this 1/48 representation of Voyager. Many tiny, tiny parts, making for fiddly work, but I see nothing inaccurate here. The magnetometer boom and planetary wave antennas are supplied as plastic parts; the latter no thicker than stretched sprue. Over time, these would inevitably sag; perhaps some photo-etch aftermarket will soon be available. The magnetometer boom is supplied as a thick part in four sections; the instructions suggest you paint it black and highlight the orange-ish struts to simulate open lattice work. A gold-chromed scale Voyager record is supplied, along with a gold-chromed alien; presumably the intended recipient. The base is a translucent deep blue with coastlines of the northern hemisphere of Earth, but the coastlines are raised on the inside only. With paint on the outside, you could represent any of the four planets Voyager explored. Optics on the various cameras are not supplied as clear parts; the instructions suggest painting them chrome silver. The set comes with one white sprue for the dish and some ancillary parts, and two black sprues for the rest, so conceivably you could build this without painting it. No decals are supplied, but I don't know if there were any markings on Voyager. High marks, and a long-awaited subject!
